This course will focus primarily on supervised lesson planning and teaching practice. A small number of plenary sessions will further address the evaluation and selection of teaching materials and the principles of lesson planning, as well as generally exploring issues arising out of the teaching practice classes. You will be invited to reflect on and evaluate your own classroom practice and that of your peers.

Module learning outcomes

  • Apply knowledge and understanding gained in the term 1 module to planning and executing lessons under supervision and guidance of a tutor.
  • Develop skills in selecting and adapting suitable teaching materials, in the use of basic language teaching techniques and in classroom management generally.
  • Learn to research points of pedagogical grammar and other linguistic systems as necessary to ensure sound knowledge of subject matter being taught in teaching practice classes.
  • Learn how to develop the skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening in their students.
