This module introduces students to English Law by exploring the way in which law is made, interpreted and applied within the broader context of Human Rights and EU Law.

It also provides students with an opportunity to critically examine the structures and personnel of the English Law System.

Module learning outcomes

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the sources of law and the way in which law is made and interpreted; differences between public and private law; precedent and the impact of Human Rights and EU Law;
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the structure and personnel of the English Legal System;
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyse and critique a judgment.
