‘Creating a Forest Food Garden’ follows on from the ‘Understanding Forest Gardens’ elective. You will collaborate to develop previous ideas into practical and costed designs for both a forest food garden and a hemp bale building (in 2020 - 21) to serve it and two other related projects. As it will take at least five years from inception to early harvesting of the forest food garden, you will participate in a segment of that time, passing on your achievements and challenges for the next year’s cohort to develop. The building, which will be quicker to establish, will serve future modules.

Module learning outcomes

• Participate in collaborative costed designs of a forest food garden and a hemp bale building to serve it.
• Reflect on the learning and challenges of the process of involvement.
• Develop the ability to communicate complex ideas to construct informed positions, arguments and materials for sharing with other students.
