Research Degrees:

Members of the Centre, who are located in the Department of Media and Film at Sussex, and in other departments of the University, supervise doctoral research projects in many areas relevant to the Centre. We are happy to take on students researching new media and innovation, culture and technologies, sense perception, media histories, mobile and pervasive media, globalization and new media, social networking, technology, science and society, and in related areas.

Masters Programmes:

MA in Digital Media:
The MA in Digital Media is a course combining theoretical and critical takes on new media. The course provides students with an overview of the developing field of new media as a political economy, explores the aesthetic, sensory, and cultural impacts of new media forms of all kinds and provides a range of options exploring more specific aspects of new media ecologies and digital contexts. Options vary year on year, but material covered includes Science and Culture, Media Technology and Everyday Life, Audiences, Documentary and History, European Media, Promotional Culture, Pervasive and Locative technologies. In addition, the course gives students the chance to further develop existing practice skills, or to develop new media literacy across a range of core media applications including web design, video editing, and animation. Students have full access to the range of high-end media equipment held by the Media and Film department and also have their own dedicated graduate workspace. Past students have found work with media organizations, museums, galleries, marketing companies, universities, education bodies, arts organizations and the voluntary sector.
