You address a historical problem in depth, setting your own research project and its questions.

You will:

  • resolve those questions with a module involving the design of a research outline
  • carry out your own research based on primary historical sources
  • develop the skills necessary to write an extended piece of written work based on this (usually archival) research.

Module learning outcomes

  • Define a research question and agenda.
  • Undertake archive or text based research.
  • Construct complex written arguments of greater length than hitherto on the basis of historical research using primary sources.
