University Clearing and Adjustment 2021

Clearing remains open for UK students, but we are now closed for international students. View our Clearing vacancies for UK students.

If you’ve taken A-levels, we're normally looking for:

  • First-year entry: from BCC upwards
  • Foundation Years: from DDD upwards

If you've achieved our entry requirements, phone us on +44 (0)1273 007820

Have you considered a Foundation Year?

Our Foundation Years are designed for talented applicants who do not quite meet the criteria for entry into the first year of an undergraduate course.

They enable you to gain the subject-specific knowledge and skills to support your transition to university. Successfully completing your Foundation Year allows you to continue on to a range of related degrees.

Take a look at our Foundation Year options.

We are also optimistic that from September 2021 the main form of teaching will be in-person, on campus, although we will of course make changes if needed in response to the global pandemic.

Adjustment

If you get better results than expected, you can explore other course vacancies through a process known as Adjustment, even if you've secured a place at your firm choice university.

Adjustment is available from A-level results day on 10 August 2021.

Find out more about Adjustment from UCAS.

Accommodation at Sussex

We will have 300 guaranteed university-managed housing vacancies for Clearing in 2021, that will be allocated on a first come first served basis. The vast majority of university-managed accommodation is on campus, with a small amount off campus in the city of Brighton.

Students applying for university-managed accommodation will be informed asap whether their application falls within the guaranteed number of places.

From early July, we aim to inform all International Clearing students of their guarantee of an offer within five working days of them receiving a course offer and joining the housing waiting list. We will then send out room details to these students in late July and early August.

We will endeavour to allocate the remaining guaranteed clearing students after A -level results (10 August) within five working days of their course offer.

In the unlikely event that we are unable to allocate University-managed accommodation, our Housing Services team are able to provide advice and support to help secure accommodation in Brighton’s extensive private rental accommodation sector.
