A One Day Workshop
7th June 2012
This one-day workshop brings together scholars interested in applying new interdisciplinary and methodological approaches to the study of security through a focus on the concept of material and practices as discourse. It aims to explore and reflect on the usefulness of the ‘material turn’ for International Relations and the suggestion that IR would benefit from a shift in emphasis from language, text and representation in critical approaches to security to including materiality and objects.
Confirmed speakers include:
Dr. Claudia Aradau (KCL) Noam Toran (RCA)
Dr. Monika Büscher (Lancaster) Dr. Elspeth Van Veeren (Sussex)
Prof. Tony Dunne (RCA) Dr. William Walters (Carleton)
