The University of Sussex Business School Masters of Business Administration (MBA) programme has been accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA), one of the world’s leading authorities on post-graduate business education. This places its Masters of Business Administration (MBA) amongst the top 2% in the world, available at fewer than 300 Business Schools globally.

AMBA accreditation recognises the highest standard of teaching, curricula and student interaction achieved by the Sussex MBA programme, which launched in 2011. The MBA has formed a core part of the School’s development over the last ten years. AMBA accreditation also demonstrates the School’s international standing and its corporate connections, alongside its strong standards in ethics, corporate responsibility and sustainability.

The Sussex MBA is the Business School’s most internationally diverse course. Between 2016 and 2018 students from over 27 nationalities enrolled in the programme, coming from a diverse corporate background, including multinational and local organisations in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors.

Professor Steven McGuire, Dean and Head of the Business School, said:

“Gaining AMBA accreditation is a fantastic achievement for the Sussex MBA, which is a relatively new programme. We should treat this award as an affirmation of our distinctive offer as a Business School. AMBA recognises our strength in innovation studies and engagement with public policy as rare and valuable assets in the marketplace. AMBA also acknowledges that our research base is unique amongst business schools, and that our emphasis on public policy is significant and useful as the UK enters a new and uncertain trade environment.  Applying our research to solving real world problems forms part of our Sussex vision to create a better university for a better world.”

Professor John Da Silva Luiz, and Ms Isabel Fischer, Directors of the Sussex MBA programme said:

“I’m delighted that the AMBA accreditation panel thought our MBA is challenging yet reflective and one that offers an immersive and international learning experience. The panel also commended our willingness to take feedback from students to improve their MBA experience. We can now look forward to working alongside institutions within the AMBA network, and developing our MBA programme in line with AMBA recommendations.”

Andrew Main Wilson, Chief Executive of the Association of MBAs and Business Graduates Association (AMBA & BGA), added: ‘I am delighted to welcome the University of Sussex into the AMBA family of prestigious Business Schools. We look forward to working with the School closely and to inviting students and recent graduates to join our exclusive membership.’

The University of Sussex Business School is home to major research centres for energy and sustainability research, international trade and, from 2020 a major research centre, Digital Futures at Work, in collaboration with University of Leeds.
