Guillermo is a Research Assistant in International Trade at the UK Trade Policy Observatory (UKTPO) at the University of Sussex. Since 2020 he has been supporting Research Fellows at UKTPO on numerous projects to assess and evaluate UK post-Brexit trade policy. He has been contributing to the UKTPO’s research output in the form of blogs, research briefs, submissions to parliamentary enquiries, and responses to media requests on trade-related global events.

Guillermo has previously worked as a School tutor at the University of Sussex Business School. He has also worked as a Research Officer at the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) where his work has mainly revolved around the use of primary data to produce impact evaluations and monitoring reports on development projects in Africa.  

Guillermo holds a BSc Economics (with Honours) and MSc Economics degree from the University of Sussex. His research interests are in International Trade, Development Economics, and Economic Geography.
