Classes from Monday 23 January - Friday 31 March

All group exercise classes are free to public and alumni gold and silver members. Price per class for bronze members: alumni £5.20 and public £5.70. Non-members pay £6.50 per class

Monday

Indoor Group Cycling: 12.05pm -12.50pm

Instructor: Fitness team

Venue: Sport Centre Fitness Room 

Cycle to the beat of the music or speed through challenging intervals. This high intensity class will help you burn calories, energise the body and is suitable for all abilities.

If you are new to indoor group cycling please read the Schwinn bike set up information first.

Small Group Training: 12pm - 12.45pm

A coaching focused session covering the key exercises in a strength training workout. The session will cover warm up, take you through a circuit of 5 of the main strength movements, Squat, Deadlift, Row, Push Up and Plank.

Gandiva Yoga: 5pm - 5.45pm

CardioBox is a high energy class using a mix of simple martial arts moves mixed with traditional aerobics exercises to create a full body workout. A class centred on strength training to produce a high intensity class that trains both the muscular and cardiovascular system to create a smart training solution. The class uses barbells, dumbbells, ropes, kettlebells and medicine balls and requires some experience of free weight training. The class is a great calorie burner, great fun and is a challenging workout.

Ahead of your class

  • Please let reception know that you have arrived for your class so that we can register your attendance
  • If you have booked your place and fail to attend, arrears will show on your account and you will be unable to carry out any other bookings until these arrears have been paid
  • Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration and if you have any injuries or problems then discuss these with the instructor before the class
  • Please make sure to arrive ahead of the class start time. Entry will be denied if you are more than 10 minutes late
  • We ensure that all instructors are fully qualified and experienced. However, all participants take part in any activity at their own risk.

Waiting Lists

If a class is fully booked you have the option of going on the waiting list, just ask at the Sport Centre or Falmer Sports Complex reception. We will attempt to contact you if a place becomes available, so please make sure we have your correct contact details. Please note that being on a waiting list does not guarantee you a place, but is to note your interest in case a place becomes available.

This class focuses on 'nutritious' movement of your body weight. Primarily drawing on gymnastics conditioning, animal flow and play-based methods we will help to strengthen and condition your body, improve mobility and agility and teach you new skills. All levels are welcome regardless of any previous experience.

The class uses a rotation system, so the user can record their progress. The class uses barbells, dumbbells, ropes, kettlebells and medicine balls and requires some experience of free weight training. The class is a great calorie burner, great fun and is a challenging workout.

In good weather, this class may be moved outside to our Outdoor Fitness Area. Please check the weather and bring appropriate clothing and sun protection cream if necessary.

Strong by Zumba is the ultimate cardio and total body workout, based around the extremely popular training videos by Shaun T.

The session is high intensity and fast paced, using intervals to burn energy and increase fitness. Using jumps, sprints, strength and core exercises this class should be top of your list if intensity is your thing.

A class centred on strength training to produce a high intensity class that trains both the muscular and cardiovascular system to create a smart training solution. The class uses a rotation system, so the user can record their progress. The class uses barbells, dumbbells, ropes, kettlebells and medicine balls and requires some experience of free weight training. The class is a great calorie burner, great fun and is a challenging workout. 

In good weather, this class may be moved outside to our Outdoor Fitness Area. Please check the weather and bring appropriate clothing and sun protection cream if necessary.

This class is suitable for all fitness levels. You start the class with a short step routine designed to warm up the muscles you will be using during the class. The rest of the session is split into 4 x 4 strength exercises using bodyweight and dumbells. You will work the lower body, upper body, whole body and core. The method of training creates a high intensity, high energy, high calorie burn.

This class teaches Vayu Aerial Yoga, a specific method with particular postures and sequences. Participants need to be familiar and comfortable with the basic material of a Vayu Aerial Yoga class, including the sleepy body sequence, cat backs and the basic expression of warriors and down dog - taught in the Aerial Yoga beginners drop-in classes.

Group exercise class notes

  • If you have booked your place online then you will still need to come to reception to pick up your admission ticket or pay.
  • If you have booked your place online and fail to attend, pay or pick up your ticket then arrears will show on your account. You will be unable to make any other bookings until these arrears have been paid.
  • Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration and if you have any injuries or problems then discuss these with the instructor before the class.
  • Some of our classes are outdoors, please dress appropriately for the weather and wear sun protection cream if necessary.
  • Please do not arrive late for any of the classes. Entry will be denied if you are more than 10 minutes late.
  • We ensure that all teachers are fully qualified and experienced. However, all participants take part in any activity at their own risk.

Waiting Lists

If a class is fully booked you have the option of going on the waiting list; just ask at either the Sport Centre or Falmer Sports Complex reception. Sussexsport will attempt to contact you if a place becomes available. Please note that being on a waiting list does not guarantee you a place, but is to note your interest in case a place becomes available.
