New Membership Scheme as of 1st August 2009

From 1st August 2009, Sussexsport will be offering a new range of membership options open to all, and tailored to your fitness needs. Please click here for details on memberships available and prices. All other prices currently listed on our website will be honoured until 31st July 2009. Please note that staff will still be able to pay for gold and silver memberships via salary deduction.

 

New for Summer Term - Spinning Classes

Join Cara Webb and the Sussexsport team throughout the week in one of the most popular group exercise classes available. You can join Cara for a class that is music driven or the Sussexsport team for a class that is more structured to improving cardiovascular fitness using intervals and climbs. These classes will improve fitness, muscle tone and sports conditioning. Only 10 places available for each class so make sure you don't miss out and book early. Please note that the group exercise cards cannot be used for these classes.

Welcome to Sussexsport

We aim to provide a wide range of opportunities for Sussex University staff and students and the local community to enjoy sport and exercise and lead an active and healthy lifestyle. Our mission statement is "to provide, promote and develop sport, health and exercise related opportunities for the benefit of University of Sussex students, staff and the local community."

Past and present users include Brighton & Hove Albion FC, Sussex County Cricket Club and the England and Scotland Netball Squads. We have also hosted national and international standard martial arts, badminton and squash tournaments.

Our facilities are located at two sites: the Sport Centre (at the south end of campus) and the Falmer Sports Complex (at the eastern end of campus). Each term we produce our newsletter Get Fit Get Active. To get a copy of this for the Summer Term 2009 then please click here.

 

GetFit Advice

Are you always looking through the internet or magazines for the answer to your exercise and fitness training questions, whether it's losing weight, getting started, building muscle or toning, how to improve your sports performance or injury prevention?

GetFit advice is a new service open to University of Sussex staff and students. The service is basically an email based fitness instructor who is available to give advice on the following training areas:-

Resistance Training, Cardiovascular Training, Flexibility, Core Training, Sports Training (team and individual).

How does the service work?

Email your question to getfitadvice@sussex.ac.uk and your question will then be directed to the most appropriate member of staff, who will then reply within 7 days via email.
