Year-round female-focused fitness

Following the success of our campaign weeks, our popular US Girls Can sessions now run all year round and are included in our weekly Active US and group exercise timetables

US Girls Can sessions are open to all self-identifying women and non-binary students and staff at Sussex and offer female-focused sport and activity opportunities in a supportive, encouraging and non-judgemental space.

We are a community on campus and online, with eight student volunteer 'Leaders', who have their own fitness journeys to share.

Our diverse group of student Leaders are selected each year to represent the campaign across campus by attending sessions and helping to run one-off events. They also share their fitness and sporting stories by blogging and sharing tips and advice on the US Girls Can instagram and Facebook group

Get involved and take part in our spring term US Girls Can sessions:

  • US Girls Can women-only circuits: Mondays and Thursdays, 3.30pm-4.30pm in the Sport Centre fitness room. Open to all experience levels from absolute beginners to regular gym-goers and led by our expert instructor Gemma. Free for Gold and Silver Sussexsport members, drop-in price for Bronze members and non-members. See the full timetable for more information
  • US Girls Can Football: Mondays, 7pm-8pm at the Sport Centre. This indoor football session is drop-in, with no need to book. No experience necessary, complete beginners very welcome
  • US Girls Can Basketball: Saturdays, 11am-12 noon at the Sport Centre. No experience needed, this is a drop-in session with no need to book
  • US Girls Can Cricket: Saturdays, 11am-12 noon at the Sport Centre. No experience needed, this is a drop-in session with no need to book.
