The Consolations of Evolution? Darwin and Victorian Science

In this 30-minute taster lecture, Prof Jim Endersby explores the history of evolutionary science in the Victorian period. The lecture gives students a flavour of our approach to learning on the History degree at Sussex, questioning some of the stereotypes associated with Darwinism, and putting Darwin's work into the social and cultural context of his time.
