Level 4
30 credits in spring semester
Teaching method: Lecture, Seminar, Practical, Workshop

On this module, you’ll explore the principles and practices of platform storytelling across contemporary digital and screen media. You’ll explore how stories are created, adapted and extended across a range of specific platforms, including:
- YouTube
- TikTok
- Spotify (for podcasts)
- streaming services such as Netflix or iPlayer.
You’ll pay attention to how these platforms shape the form, temporality and interactivity of stories. You’ll analyse platform-native formats like reels, shorts and webisodes, and develop your own work accordingly. Combining theoretical insight with hands-on creative production, you’ll develop:
- short-form video content
- multi-platform campaign ideas
- interactive story structures.
You’ll critically reflect on creative work, exploring audience engagement, affordances of the medium and cultural or ethical implications.
