On this module, you’ll gain industry-relevant skills in visual storytelling for professional media production. Focusing on how to shoot with the edit in mind, the module develops a strong understanding of:

  • shot types
  • camera angles
  • composition.

These support clear and impactful narratives.

You’ll engage with key concepts such as:

  • visual coverage
  • spatial coherence
  • sequencing

You’ll do this through practical, real-world production exercises. This hands-on approach supports the development of creative and technical skills relevant to a range of roles in film, television and digital content production.

  • Demonstrate competent use of camera techniques and editing strategies to construct visually coherent and narratively effective sequences.
  • Plan, shoot, and edit short visual projects with attention to coverage, shot composition, and sequencing, aligned with industry-informed production practices.
  • Apply aesthetic and critical concepts to analyse visual storytelling in both their own work and that of others, considering audience impact and narrative clarity.
  • Identify how the skills developed relate to professional roles in film, television, and digital content production.
