Sussex offers unlimited £3,000 fee discounts for previous Sussex students choosing to return to study a Masters degree in 2026.

Eligibility

  • Who is eligible

    To be eligible for this scholarship, you must have either:

      • Graduated from Sussex with a Bachelors, Masters or PhD degree
      • Previously completed a Sussex Summer School programme
      • Previously attended the University as a Visiting or Exchange student

    Applicants must have also accepted an offer of a place on a full time or part time eligible Masters course to start in September 2026.

  • Who isn’t eligible

    You are not eligible for this scholarship if you:

    • Are applying for a Masters at a university that is not at the University of Sussex
    • Are progressing into the final year of an integrated Masters at Sussex
    • Studied at one of our partner institutions (i.e. BIMM or International Study Centre)
    • Studied at a UK University’s overseas campus or external programme
    • Already hold another University of Sussex scholarship (i.e. Chancellor's Masters Scholarship)
    • Are studying one of the Excluded courses listed below.
  • Excluded courses

    You are not eligible for this scholarship if you are going to study any of the following:

    • Certificates and Diplomas (including PGCE)
    • Courses at Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS)
    • MSc Climate Change, Development & Policy
    • MA Development Studies
    • MA Food and Development
    • MA Gender and Development
    • MA Globalisation, Business and Development
    • MA Governance, Development and Public Policy
    • MA Poverty, Policy and Development Practice
    • MA Power, Participation and Social Change
    • Early Years Education (with Early Years Teacher status)
    • Degrees in Social Work (if receiving an NHS bursary)
    • Online courses
    • Schools direct teaching courses
    • Masters funded by the research councils (e.g. ESRC 1+3 funding)
    • MPhil courses

How to apply

The scholarship is applied automatically if you meet the eligibility criteria. If this changes at any time, the scholarship will be removed. Confirmation of the scholarship will be sent by email after you receive an offer of a place to study at Sussex.

To be identified as a Sussex alum, you need to answer the relevant question on your Masters application.

After you receive an offer on an eligible course, if you do not also receive email confirmation of the scholarship, please contact the Scholarships Office.

Terms and conditions

For part time students, the scholarship is applied as a £1,500 tuition fee reduction in Year One and £1,500 in Year Two.

If you require a Student Visa to study at Sussex, information about the scholarship will be included in your CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies). If the scholarship information is not showing on your CAS, please contact the Admissions Office: pg.applicants@sussex.ac.uk.
