The Jan Metzger Scholarship in Artificial Intelligence and Adaptive Systems is kindly funded through a generous donation from Sussex alumnus, Jan Metzger. The scholarship is available for a student taking up a place on Artificial Intelligence and Adaptive Systems MSc (including with industrial placement year) at Sussex in 2024.

Scholarship applicants need to have accepted a full-time place on the Artificial Intelligence and Adaptive Systems MSc or Artificial Intelligence and Adaptive Systems (with an industrial placement year) MSc.

UK and Overseas applicants will be considered. For those assessed as 'Home' for fees, the scholarship is a full fee waiver.

The successful applicant will demonstrate experience of and engagement with open source.

Jan Metzger, the donor of the Metzger Scholarship works in banking, technology and knowledge management and is keen that recipients of this scholarship have a moral commitment to doing good in the world.  His preferred platform is the Tiki Wiki project and he is interested in ways scholars engage with the ‘open source world’ – open and free collaborative code development for solving real-world problems.
