Immerse Yourself in the Magic of Sussex
Alice Eldridge, Professor of Sonic Systems (Music), is among the ecologists, conservationists and academics collaborating on Enchanting Forest, a breathtaking immersive evening of live music and film that celebrates the county's natural beauty in its fragility and resilience.
From the rolling South Downs to the sparkling sea, Sussex comes alive in Enchanting Forest. Presented by Brighton’s Forests Without Frontiers (FWF), this one-of-a-kind event features live performance, a short film and mesmerising visuals which explore Sussex’s landscapes, heritage and the delicate balance of nature. With the sounds of nature as a constant backdrop, the county’s forests, rivers and coastline are brought to life by an extraordinary ensemble of local artists, spanning generations and styles, from folksingers to a choir and orchestra.
Hosted by the project’s director and FWF founder Nicoleta Carpineanu (aka Nico de Transilvania), the evening will feature performances from Alice Russell, the Copper Family, New Note Orchestra, the Enchanting Forest Choir led by Sophia Efthimiou, Andrew Stuart-Buttle, Danny Emerson, and a host of special guests including ecologists, conservationists and academics.
Let the music move you, the stories inspire you and the sights transport you. Enchanting Forest is more than a show, it’s a celebration of Sussex’s natural wonder and resilience.
You can also watch the trailer on YouTube and listen to Seeds of Love on the SoundCloud website. It draws on one of the earliest English folksongs of the same name and the Sussex Waltz, and features fiddle and vocals by Elle Osborne, along with sounds of nature recorded in Ebernoe Common. Seeds of Love forms part of Enchanting Forest.
