? Mark your diaries for Nakba Commemoration Day on 15th May 2025, for another event of the Palestine Interdisciplinary Dialogues at the University of Sussex and online. Join the presentation of the book STOLEN NATION: THE RIGHT OF REPARATION OF PALESTINIAN REFUGEES.
? This is an excellent event to understand about the history of Palestine, and how we got to the situation in the present days.
? The Arabic term ‘al-Nakba’ (النكبة) meaning ‘the catastrophe’, refers to the events of 1948 when 750,000 Palestinians were displaced from their homes during the establishment of the state of Israel.
? They were given a special status of refugees under International Law, under the auspices of UNRWA, as they await to return to their homes, and to a Palestinian state.
? The author of the book, Dr Lena El-Malak will present International Law arguments on Palestinian 1948 refugees, their rights to return and to reparation.
? A wider conversation about Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, reparations and refugees in the global south will also be presented by our speakers
