About the Department

The Department of Geography at Sussex, formed in 1961, has a staff of 20 academics, 3 researchers and 4 professional support and technical staff.

Each year about 90 Geography students gain BA and BSc degrees. We have about 50 DPhil students in geography and related subjects, and our Masters programmes are rapidly expanding with the introduction of exciting new MSc degrees in Climate Change and Policy, Climate Change and Development and the MSc in Applied Geomorphology.
