Unibuddy Communities for offer-holders
Get to know other undergraduate offer-holders by joining a community of other students who plan to study at the University of Sussex this September.
What is Unibuddy Communities?
Unibuddy Communities is a space for you to meet people planning to study the same subject as you, get to know your potential coursemates, and get updates about upcoming events and webinars. With Unibuddy Communities, you can:
- chat with other offer holders from your chosen course
- ask questions to current Sussex students
- learn more about our local city of Brighton & Hove
- discuss shared interests and hobbies
- find out more about upcoming events, welcome activities, clubs and societies.
How to access Communities
You can access Communities on desktop or through the Unibuddy app, available on both iOS and Android. Follow the instructions below to get started.
If you’ve received an offer to study with us you will also receive an email from the University of Sussex via Unibuddy inviting you to join our Community. Click the purple ‘Join Now’ button to sign up and get started.
Once you’ve logged in, click on the Explore tab, scroll down to ‘Groups’ and join our ‘2026 UoS Applicants’ group to start chatting with other offer holders, or join our 'Ask an ambassador' group to speak with current students and ask them your questions. You can join as many groups as you’d like, or even start your own!
If you’re having trouble accessing Communities, or if you haven’t yet received an email inviting you to join (you'll typically get an invitation within 1-2 weeks of your offer) then please drop us a message through our ‘Ask us a question’ form.
Are you already a Unibuddy Community user, perhaps at another university? You can log in as an existing user with the same details, go to your profile picture in the top corner, and click or tap ‘switch Community’, to see all the student Communities you’re a part of.
Rules of conduct
When you’ve joined your Community you’ll be asked to follow the rules listed below to ensure everyone can enjoy the Community safely. If you don't follow the rules, you may be blocked or banned from Communities.
- Be kind and courteous: please treat everyone with respect and create a welcoming environment. Healthy debates are natural, but kindness is required.
- Do not share personal information. We ask that you don’t share any personal information in the group, including phone numbers, social media handles, etc.
- No hate or bullying: make sure that everyone feels safe. Bullying of any kind is not tolerated. Personal attacks, inflammatory remarks, profanity, or degrading comments about race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender, or identity will not be tolerated.
- No promotions or spam: give more to the groups than you take. Self-promotion, spam and irrelevant links are not allowed.
- Respect everyone’s privacy. Being part of these groups requires mutual trust. Authentic, expressive discussions make group conversations great, but they may also be sensitive and private. Think twice before you post any personal information. We will act if we see anyone violating these guidelines.
By logging onto the above Community and joining the chat, you agree to these rules. Anyone found breaking any of these rules will be banned and removed from the Community.
