Spring teaching

On this module, you’ll explore the law and policy of international trade.

You’ll use a critical approach to understand how law and power are related. You’ll examine:

  • international trade governance
  • the World Trade Organisation (WTO)
  • Free Trade Agreements (FTAs)
  • ‘softer’ forms of trade cooperation
  • the relevance of the WTO in a world where economic relations covers different economic factors in different corporations, from national to international law
  • the reasons, incentives and goals countries have when entering trade partnerships
  • topical issues and challenges in international trade.

Assessment

40%: Coursework (Presentation, Report)
60%: Written assessment (Essay)

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 300 hours of work. This breaks down into about 30 hours of contact time and about 270 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology.
