Human-robot interaction laboratory

H-Man robotic interface

H-MAN is a planar robotic platform suitable for test of algorithms for physical human-robot interaction due to its simple structured workspace and basic 2-DOF mechanics. A handle mounted on a plane is moved along two linear sliders, driven through a H-shaped cable mechanism by transferring rotary motor torques to forces onto the handle.

Optical interferometry test facilities

Optical interferometry test facility:
• PCS Instruments Optical interferometry test rig of EHD film measurement. This has the ability to measure film thickness of down to two nanometres and friction forces, in concentrated contacts with pressures up to 2GPa.  The rig has an adaptor for studying of heterogeneous slip/non-slip bearings
• Optical interferometry rig for dynamic testing of liquid films. Besides the optical system, this rig contains a high speed camera which can take images up to 100,000 frames per second, accelerometers and piezo-actuators.
• Mini Traction Machine (MTM) – A general purpose test rig for friction measurement in various conditions of load, temperature and kinematics. It can be adapted for the study of hard or soft contacts, wear measurements, as well as for electrical capacitance measurement.
• Solartron A1260 Impedance/gain-phase analyser. Suitable for corrosion studies, fuel cells, solar cells, LCDs, bio-materials, composites, rheology studies.  The system includes interface with PC and analysis software.
• Anton-Paar viscometer SV3000. Rotational viscometer with a range of 0.0002 to 20 Pa·s.
