Educational programmes

We run a practitioner education programmes in partnership between the University of Sussex School of Psychology and Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. These programmes provide routes into psychological practice in the NHS, schools, and other settings, and many of these have an attached placement, often in Sussex Partnership services. This gives first hand NHS experience and contact with mental health specialists which helps prepare practitioners for future roles.

Courses

The Course is offered in partnership between the University of Sussex School of Psychology and Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and offers a modular professional training that will fulfil all of the requirements for successful graduates to apply for professional accreditation as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).

This exciting, innovative, award-winning course is offered in partnership between the University of Sussex School of Psychology and Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.  It offers professional training in low intensity psychological interventions for children and young people (CYP). The course is open to graduates from a range of backgrounds and provides an excellent opportunity to develop knowledge, skills and clinical experience in CYP mental health and interventions whilst studying towards a post-graduate certificate.  Successful applicants will learn how to carry out a range of discrete, evidence-based, cognitive-behavioural interventions with CYP in a 1:1 or group format.  The course incorporates a nine-month clinical placement in either a school/college or CAMHS setting, where students will be delivering 90 hours of direct interventions to CYP.  Completion of the course provides a gateway into careers and/or further professional training in a range of areas, as demonstrated by the post-training employment outcomes of previous graduates from the programme. 

Mental health practitioners are much in demand, both nationally and locally. This course is offered in partnership between the University of Sussex School of Psychology and Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and gives successful applicants the skills to practice at Associate Practitioner level in NHS Mental Health Services. Applicants will develop knowledge in a range of therapeutic interventions as well as in , assessment, ethics, and partnership and collaborative working. This course is rooted in the principles of Recovery Practice and  offers a placement and an expectation of effective clinical work in NHS mental health service. 

Gain advanced research skills relevant to clinical psychology and a broad understanding of mental health service provision. This course is for you if you’re eventually seeking a place on a DClin Psych clinical training degree and are an existing professional in other health-related disciplines. It is run in conjunction with the Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

Psychology Graduate Internships

Psychology graduate internships are for individuals who have graduated from a psychology honours degree (or conversion course) and who are looking to undertake voluntary work to further their career. The internships provide valuable experience for those hoping to secure a paid position (e.g. as an assistant psychologist or research assistant) or to apply for clinical training. Interns volunteer with teams across Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust for 1 to 3 days a week, for a period of 3 to 12 months.
