Biography

I hold a BA in Literature and Sociology from the University of Essex and a MA In Modern Comparative Literature as well as a MA In Modern German Studies from the University of Sussex. My DPhil thesis on 'Everyday Life as Alternative Space in Exile Writing: The Novels of Anna Gmeyner, Selma Kahn, Hilde Spiel, Martina Wied and Hermynia Zur Muehlen' was completed in September 2003 at the University of Sussex.

From March 2004 to June 2008 I was the Project Coordinator of an AHRC-funded project to compile an 'Online Database of British Archival Resources relating to German-speaking Refugees, 1933-1950 (Barge)'.

I am currently working on projects on Holocaust Writing and Translation, Motherhood in German Culture and Childhood Exile.
