Fines Waiver Policy

This policy is in place to ensure sanctions for overdue items are applied fairly and equally to all users.

Responsibilities

The Collection Services Librarian will be responsible for ensuring compliance.

Policy

Fines will only be waived under the following circumstances:

  • If they are incurred due to staff or technical error
  • On evidence of mitigating circumstances. Acceptable evidence includes a doctor’s certificate, crime reference number, letter from personal tutor or with confirmation from School office
  • On written request from the Student Support Unit or the Student Life Centre
  • Adverse traffic or weather conditions that prevent access to the library (on advice from Collections Senior Manager or Collection Services Librarian) 
  • At the Collections Senior Manager's or Collection Services Librarian’s discretion.
