In this Palestine Interdisciplinary Dialogue event 'Psychological Perspectives on Palestine', we will discuss issues of mental health arising from the occupation and violence perpetrated against the Palestinian people.
The psychological suffering of Palestinians is not very spoken about, given the enormous physical dimension of their suffering, magnified by the annihilation of Gaza and the settler-colonial violence in the West Bank.
Yet in Palestine, we are witnessing a mental health catastrophe, which our guest speakers will articulate.
Displacing Palestinian minds, as well as Palestinian bodies, is key to erasing the Palestinian people. Therefore exploring issues of mental health is key to build Palestinian resilience.
This is an important conversation, especially if we consider Palestinian steadfastness a key part of the reconstruction of Palestinian communities.
While our speakers are all connected to the West Bank, we will also hear reported testimonies from Gaza, Palestine's most gravely affected area. We commit to organising an event soon that will involve more voices from Gaza.
