Claim your travel costs

Here at Sussex we’re proud of our friendly, vibrant and passionate community.

We want to make sure anyone interested in studying at Sussex is able to visit us and experience our supportive learning environment.

That’s why we’re offering to help with the cost of travel for you and a guest. Depending on where you live you can claim between £25 to £75.

See our full terms and conditions and how to claim your travel costs payment.

Book a place at an Applicant Visit Day

We’d love to welcome you to an Applicant Visit Day. Our Applicant Visit Days are also open to non-applicants who are interested in studying with us.

If you haven’t booked your place yet, see our dates and choose the day that best suits you

On the day, you can discover more about your chosen course, meet academics and current students, and explore our spacious campus.

Terms and conditions

The following terms and conditions should be adhered to in order to claim your travel costs payment:

  • To make your claim you will need to download the AVD Travel Claim Form [DOCX, 40KB], complete all fields and email it to avdtravelcosts@sussex.ac.uk.
  • Claimants must have registered for and attended an Applicant Visit Day.
  • Only one travel cost claim will be paid to an attendee per application year. Whilst you are welcome to visit on more than one occasion, the University will only contribute towards your travel costs on one occasion.

    • 1-150 miles – £50
    • 151+ miles – £75
  • Make sure you register for the event at the Registration Desk at some point during the day, so that we know you attended.
  • The travel costs payment will be paid by BACS transfer to an account nominated on the claim form. Payments will be made within six weeks of attending an Applicant Visit Day and submitting a completed claim form.
  • No receipts or proof of mode of transport will be required. However, you will need to provide your UCAS Personal ID (PID) and full home address as detailed on your UCAS application and bank account details.
