Biography

Sangita is a Doctoral researcher in the School of Education and Social Work, with a background in Sociology and Childhood & Youth Studies. Her thesis titled "Illuminating the experiences of people with adoption in India: an analysis  from the perspective of policy, practice and personal narratives" explores the subjective experiences of young adult adoptees and adoptive parents including single parent and adoptee-cum-adoptive parents to understand how adoption is being used as a legitimate family practice in a changing socio-cultural and political circumstance in India. Sangita conducted her fieldwork in India covering 5 states over 8 months and apply narrative methodology to analyse the qualitative data drawn on the experiential accounts.
