We are interested in addressing the mechanism by which telomeres ensure that chromosome ends are adequately protected and fail to signal to the DNA damage checkpoint pathways. We are also investigating the mode of telomerase regulation by the telomeric complex and the interplay between the DNA replication machinery and telomerase.

We primarily use budding and fission yeast as model organisms but we also conduct work with mammalian cells. A large focus of the laboratory has to do with efforts to identify novel protein factors with a role in telomere biology.
