Multi-camera Tracking

Video Event Detection

The group is actively working on developing real time algorithms for machine understanding in computer vision. This is a difficult task and utilises some of the state of the art processing and classification techniques. The software is typically developed in Matlab, C++ and CUDA. An example of tracking a person across a multiple cameras is shown below.

Human Tracking

Human tracking in a video is an incredibly useful tool. It has a variety of applications from security to human/computer interactions for online games. We are actively researching methods for locating limbs within a scene and tracking their movement.

Internet Image Search Engine

The internet (World Wide Web) is arguably one o f the technologies that has and is changing the socio-cultural landscape of the world today. Any technology that must be relevant in the foreseeable future must therefore be adapted for use on the internet. This research project therefore proposes to take an in-depth look at the object/image recognition (including matching and identification) and the tools that have been developed so far (or new tools that needed to be developed) Viz-a-Viz the ways that the internet is being used (or ways that the internet is not being used) in order to make image/object recognition and its tools readily available on the internet.
