Article 26 Scholarship (2020)

This undergraduate scholarship supports forced migrant students in UK higher education. It is offered to an asylum seeker or applicant granted a temporary form of leave, to provide financial assistance in order to enable them to take up a place on an undergraduate degree at the University of Sussex.

Full overseas tuition fee waiver plus £11,500 maintenance per year of study.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be:

  • Be an asylum-seeker; or
  • Have been granted temporary form of leave to remain as a result of an asylum application (e.g. limited leave to remain, humanitarian protection) and not be eligible for funding from Student Finance England; or
  • Be a partner/child of an asylum seeker or an unaccompanied asylum-seeking child; and
  • Have a household income of under £42,875

The successful applicant will need to ensure they have made plans or raised sufficient funds to cover any remaining costs of living not covered by the maintenance portion of the scholarship, for the duration of their degree.  For guidance about estimated living costs at Sussex and information about budgeting, please see our website.
