Module code: F8513S
Level 6
30 credits in spring semester
Teaching method: Practical, Lecture
Assessment modes: Coursework, Essay
Explore climate science, focusing on:
- climate feedbacks
- climate observations
- climate variability
- climate analyses.
You’ll highlight the major challenges in climate sciences (e.g global carbon cycles and aerosols) and significant climate phenomena, such as El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO).
You’ll also gain hands-on experience analysing real-life data from climate observatories and existing climate models to create your own climate and statistical plots.
Module learning outcomes
- Demonstrate a sound knowledge of the climate system.
- Understand the cause of climate change and variability.
- Understand the key elements of climate models and their predictions.
- Summarise key debates and uncertainties in the climate change.
- Identify research topics and develop independent research questions on the climate change.
- Understand the approaches used in climate analyses and evaluations.
