Measure Theory with Applications (L.7) (850G1)
15 credits, Level 7 (Masters)
This module provides a rigorous introduction to measure theory and Lebesgue integration.
You will study measures and their properties, learn to construct measures from outer measures using Caratheodory's method, and construct the Lebesgue measure on the line.
You will then develop the powerful concept of Lebesgue integral and make the use of it by mastering convergence theorems.
The last part of the module gives an introduction to L^p spaces.
20%: Coursework (Portfolio, Problem set)

Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 33 hours of contact time and about 117 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
