Jesse White Masters Scholarship in International Relations (2022)

This $5,000 scholarship is open to applicants with an offer to study a course in the International Relations department at Sussex. Preference will be given to US Nationals but we welcome any well-qualified applicants to submit an application for this philanthropically-funded scholarship.

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, you must have accepted an offer in the International Relations Department at Sussex:

Conflict Security and Development MA

Geopolitics and International Affairs MA

International Political Economy MA

International Relations MA

International Security MA

Preference will be given to US nationals or residents but other nationalities will be considered.

You will be required to provide a personal statement in order to be considered for the scholarship.  The statement will be assessed on the following:

  • Your previous academic achievement and excellence
  • Your academic and career aspirations after you have completed your Masters
  • Any work or extra-curricular activity you have undertaken that relates to your Masters

The Jesse White Masters Scholarship is made possible by the generosity of Dr Jesse White, who graduated from Sussex in 1968 with a Masters in International Relations, and was the first Marshall scholar from the University of Mississippi. Dr White also has a doctoral degree in Political Science from MIT and is the retired Director of the Office of Economic and Business Development at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
