NSS Briefing
Staff are invited to attend a further briefing on the National Student Survey, with a particular focus on promotion and communications. This session follows a briefing held in December. Much of the content will repeat what was covered previously, so colleagues who attended the December session or have watched the recording do not need to attend again. However, there will be time for questions and discussion, and colleagues are very welcome to join if this would be helpful.
This briefing may be of particular interest to module convenors whose modules have been identified as leaving time in class for students to complete the NSS. Thank you to Schools and Faculties for identifying these modules, and to the convenors and tutors who will be giving time in class. This is the most effective way to increase response rates and helps students respond when their experience of teaching and learning is foremost in their minds.
The session will be recorded and shared with colleagues who are unable to attend. Further information and links to resources are also available in the recent all staff message, How you can support National Student Survey promotion.
If you would like a separate conversation, have questions, or would find additional support helpful, please get in touch. Colleagues are welcome to forward this invitation to others who may find it useful.

About the National Student Survey
The National Student Survey 2026 campaign at Sussex begins on Monday 26 January 2026, aligned with the start of most Spring term teaching, and runs until the survey closes on Thursday 30 April 2026.
The NSS is one of the most widely used measures of student experience across the UK. It gives final year undergraduate students the opportunity to reflect on their time at Sussex, share what has worked well, and highlight where improvements could be made.
Academic and Professional Services staff play an important role in supporting student engagement with the survey. Whatever your role, your contribution helps ensure students are aware of the opportunity to take part and understand why their feedback matters.
