In November 2025, the World Health Organization released its first guideline for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of infertility – recognising it as a global health issue.
As fertility rates fall worldwide, with most countries projected to be below replacement level by 2050, demand for assisted reproductive technologies (ARTs) is rapidly increasing across the Global South, often without adequate infrastructure.
To highlight this critical public health concern, the BSMS Global Health and Infection Department is hosting an informative evidence-based online forum in its Current Stories in Global Health series.
