New scratch cards for drivers who wish to pay for car parking on a daily basis will be available at an additional outlet from Monday 7 February.
The security office in York House will sell the scratch cards from Monday to Friday, 10am-2pm - and will accept debit and credit cards.
The University has acted on feedback from drivers who said that they wanted the option to pay electronically.
Currently scratch cards can be bought only for cash, from five cafes on campus:
- Doctor's Orders, Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS)
- Chichester café, Chichester 1
- Silverstone café, Silverstone
- Baguette Express, Bramber House
- Arts Piazza cafe (Saturdays only)
New arrangements for campus parking came into effect on Tuesday (1 February), introducing a simpler payments system and new charging structure.
Staff who wish to park occasionally can use the new daily scratch cards, which cost £2 each (one-150th of the annual staff rate) and are available in books of 10.
Those students wishing to pay daily can use new scratch cards, which cost £1.10 each (one-150th of the annual student rate) and are available in books of 10.
Scratch cards are available for University visitors. Schools and departments that wish to provide parking for their visitors can buy these at a cost of £2 a day (an increase on the £1 currently payable for visitor's parking permits but significantly cheaper than the new rate for casual external users).
