Professional Skills in the Workplace - Online
We're here for you
The event is part of a series of online careers workshops designed to support finalists to feel confident as they leave university. You can see the full programme of finalist workshops here.
Are you starting a graduate role, an internship or a placement this summer? Hoping to make a great impression in your new workplace but not quite sure how to be 'professional'? Come along to this session to understand more about professional skills and feel more confident when you start your new role. In this session you will:
- Understand more about 'being professional'
- Learn about presenting yourself and communicating effectively, including by email
- Find out how to make the most of the opportunity
- Hear from those who have done it!
Find out more about the student speakers joining us for the session:
Anna Lahoud - I am a final year BSc Marketing and Management with Psychology student, and last summer I completed a Career Lab internship with Recycle4Charity. As Social Media Marketing and Web Development Intern, I worked on promoting their environmental and charitable initiatives, and I have continued working for them part-time throughout the school year as Digital Marketing Coordinator.
Thomas Barlow is a BSC International Business with a Professional Placement Year Student, going into his final year of studies in September. From June 2024 Thomas has been on a year-long Professional Placement Year at Unilever, working as part of their Global Employer Brand team, working with people based across the world.
Additional student speakers will be announced soon.
This session is a safe space to ask all your 'silly questions' anonymously like what to wear, when to take breaks, what to do if you don't know the answer, and how to ask about your holiday allowance.
We want to remind you that your Careers and Entrepreneurship team are still here for you for up to 3 years after you graduate. You can find information on all our support on our website.
Attending this event will help you gain points towards your Spirit of Sussex Award.
