Business School rises in 2023 Research.com Ranking

The University of Sussex Business School has performed well in the 2023 Top Rankings of Universities by Research.com. We are ranked 7th in the UK for Economics and Finance and 16th for Business Management, with world rankings of 38th and 81st respectively. This is higher than the previous 2022 rankings of 10th in the UK for Economics and Finance and 20th for Business Management.
Professor Steve McGuire, Dean of the Business School said:
“The new rankings reflect the depth and breadth of our research expertise. We have highly cited academics across all of our disciplines. This high quality research infuses our teaching, exposing our students to key debates and issues in their chosen area of study.”
12 current researchers were recognised among the UK and the world’s top cited scholars from across Economics and Finance and Business Management. In this year's ranking, researchers from the University received 4 awards and recognitions.
Professor Richard S. J. Tol was ranked as 3rd Top Economics and Finance scholar in the UK and 21st in the world, and was recognised as Economics and Finance UK 2023 Leader.
Other current Business School researchers included in the global ranking were:
Professor Nicholas Crafts was ranked 418 – and 56th in the UK – for Economics and Finance, and was recognised as Economics and Finance UK 2023 Leader Fellow.
Professors L. Alan Winters – Economics and Finance UK 2023 Leader, Michael Beverland and Emeritus Professor Raphael Kaplinsky were among those included in the global rankings for Business Management and Economics and Finance.
Professors Carol Alexander, Peter Dolton, Andrew Davies, Constantin Blome, Nachiappan Subramanian, Joe Tidd and Emeritus Professor Richard Disney were recognised as Top Scientists in the UK.
Appreciating the valuable contributions and ongoing impact of former colleagues in their respective fields, the late Professor David J. Storey ranked 22nd in the UK and 172 in the world for Business and Management and Professor Michael Lipton was recognised as one of the Top Scientists in the UK. Professors Keith Pavitt, Roy Rothwell and Christopher Freeman featured in the 2023 Top UK 200 for Business and Management and Economics and Finance respectively.
