Attenborough Centre - snow January 2010

The University has been seeking today (Wednesday 1 December) to operate services across campus as normal according to the advertised hours of service. 

Given weather conditions and possible effects on travelling, if staff do need to leave early, then managers have been asked to exercise their judgement in allowing staff to do so. They will also need to decide whether services can continue to be provided. 

If there are any unavoidable service changes then users will be notified in the usual ways and we will also endeavour to maintain an up-to-date picture here.  

For campus, gritting and road clearing operations are on standby should they be needed later today, overnight and tomorrow. 

We are aware of forecast for heavier snow in the region later today and overnight. 

In relation to services tomorrow (Thursday) we will be reviewing overnight and very early in the morning the conditions of travel to campus, likely availability of staff (eg if able to travel but affected by school closures) and the conditions on campus itself. 

We will be doing all we can to ensure that campus is able to operate as normal, but we will notify you if those conditions change. 

We will always endeavour to make the first point of information for staff and students about the state of campus the staff and student webpages. 

We will provide an update online by 7am tomorrow (Thursday 2 December). 

Current changes to events and services:

• The Baroness Stern 'Issues in Criminal Justice' Lecture is postponed to 2011
• The Sussex Salon debate due to take place at Brighton Dome this evening (1 December) has been postponed. Ticket holders are being notified
• The Library café and Arts Piazza café will be closing at 5.30pm today (1 December) 
• Sports Services will close at 9pm 
• HAHP School Office closed at 4.40 pm
