Academics at Sussex may receive (or have already received) an invitation to complete the Times Higher Education’s annual Global Academic Reputation Survey.
The survey is by invitation only to academics with a strong record of research publication - chosen to represent their peers in both their academic discipline and country.
Why the survey is important
The survey provides our academic staff the opportunity to share their views on excellence in teaching and research.
You can ‘vote’ for your own institution, but not more than once.
The survey results will inform the next cycle of THE world rankings, so make sure you have your say.
Sussex Academics who receive an invitation to take part are strongly encouraged to do so and it is hoped your participation will help to strengthen the University’s teaching and research reputation.
How to take part
The survey is invite-only, and invitations will be sent from profilerankings@timeshighereducationemail.com. Please check your inbox (and spam folder) for your invitation.
About the survey
The annual Global Academic Reputation Survey has previously received more than 10,000 responses each year. This year, the survey will be distributed far more widely, with twice as many cited academics receiving the invitation. It will be distributed to reflect the actual representation of scholars across countries and across academic disciplines.
The survey is strictly invitation-only; universities cannot make nominations or supply contact lists, and individuals cannot nominate themselves for participation.
In the survey, scholars are questioned at the level of their specific subject discipline and are asked to name up to 15 universities that they believe are the best in research and teaching, both in general and in their direct experience.
The survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete, and will close at the end of February 2022.
Sharing the survey results
The headline results of the survey will be shared with respondents. More detailed analysis will then be published in the form of the THE World Reputation Rankings later this year. The survey data from 2022 and 2021 will also be used alongside 11 key indicators forming the THE World University Rankings 2023, to be published in October 2022, and all subsidiary rankings for 2023.
