In October a series of successful careers events sponsored by the CPA Australia has helped to strengthen career networks between the profession and Sussex students.
At the beginning of the month Max Shao from the South China CPA Australia Office gave an insightful presentation to students examining how to kick-start a career in China. Max spoke about accountancy careers in China and described a huge variety of roles for graduates.
Dr Sami Adwan from Sussex commented “we are very grateful to Max and CPA Australia for engaging with the students to discuss career opportunities in China”.
Later in the month, third year students; Emily Allen, Grace Hendon, Shivani Semwal, Ayo Ajiboye and Rukkia Shubbar joined business leaders for a networking lunch hosted by the CPA Australia in the Sofitel St. James, London. The event brought together leaders of the future with senior executives from global banking, technology, media and healthcare organisations to exchange ideas about successful global careers in accountancy.
Dr Rebecca Vine from the University of Sussex thanked the organisers “thank you CPA Australia for orchestrating this wonderful event. It was extremely useful to hear stories from experienced business leaders about their careers, important career choices and what they look for in others”.
Makailla McConnell from the University of Sussex commented “from an employability perspective these types of events are really important; they give the students experience of business networking whilst linking them with the profession and potential employers”.
