The student engineers of Mobil 1 Team Sussex have launched the top-spec racing car they have built to race in the 2010 international Formula Student competition at Silverstone in July.
Formula Student challenges university students to design, build, develop, market and compete as a team with a small single-seater racing car.
The 12-strong Sussex team, of eight fourth-year and four third-year students, have been working at full-speed since July 2009 on their entry. This year's drivers are Daniele De Anna, Martin Grant, Martin Jones and Rida Mansour.
Features of Mobil 1 Team Sussex's entry include a Yamaha 600cc four-cylinder injection engine, Mobil 1 oil and a sleek black and chrome painted carbon-fibre shell.
They will test the car against more than 80 other entries at Silverstone motor-racing circuit in Northamptonshire, from Thursday 15-Sunday 18 July.
Formula Student is run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), with the assistance of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).
