Dr Vikrant Shirodkar

Senior Lecturer in International Business Dr Vikrant Shirodkar has won the award for Best Paper at the 42nd European International Business Academy (EIBA) conference, held in Vienna, Austria from 2-4 December 2016. 

The paper, titled Institutional Distance and Subsidiary Performance: Climbing up vs. Climbing down the Institutional Ladder, explores the role played by institutional distance - the contrasts in institutional operation in different countries - in determining the performance of subsidiaries relative to their parent Multinational Corporations (MNCs). 

Dr Shirodkar and co-author Dr Palitha Konara (University of Huddersfield) tracked the performance of 2199 firms over a 12-year period during their study.
