Professor Mariana Mazzucato
SPRU's RM Phillips Professor in the Economics of Innovation Mariana Mazzucato suggests that innovation-led growth can solve a major issue facing modern capitalism in a new article for Harvard Business Review.
In 'An Entrepreneurial Society Needs an Entrepreneurial State', published on 25 October, Professor Mazzucato posits that innovation-led growth can answer the question of 'how to generate sustained and sustainable economic growth, built on high-value, well-paying jobs'.
Professor Mazzucato explores these ideas more fully in her book The Entrepreneurial State: debunking public vs. private sector myths (Anthem 2013).
Her newest book, Rethinking Capitalism: Economics and Policy for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth, co-authored with LSE's Professor Michael Jacobs, was launched on 12 October with a panel discussion on the Sussex campus.
