SEI-linked Professor of Migration and Director of the Sussex Centre for Migration Research (SCMR) Paul Statham has been recognised for an article he co-authored with Hans-Jörg Trenz from Copenhagen University. The article has been chosen as the best paper published in the Journal of Common Market Studies in 2013 and is entitled 'How EU Politicisation can emerge through Contestation: the Constitution Case'. The members of the jury commented: "The jury considered this a very impressive empirical work that is well presented and that makes a clear contribution to our knowledge in this field. The topic is highly relevant, both from a scientific and policy perspective. The approach employed in this paper is considered highly innovative and very well executed." ◊ 6 October
