Complicite / Simon McBurney – The Encounter
Wednesday 11 May 19:30 until 21:30
Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts, University of Sussex
Tickets available from Brighton Dome.
Inspired by the novel Amazon Beaming by Petru Popescu
Directed and performed by Simon McBurney
In 1969, Loren McIntyre, a National Geographic photographer, found himself lost among the people of the remote Javari Valley, Brazil. It was an encounter that was to change his life, bringing the limits of human consciousness into startling focus.
In this solo performance, Simon McBurney traces McIntyre’s journey into the depths of the Amazon rainforest using binaural technology to build an intimate and shifting world of sound.
Founded in 1983, Complicite has toured all over the world, winning over 50 major theatre awards. The Encounter marks the company’s Brighton Festival debut.
