The Global Design Seminar Series: Free talks
Tuesday 18 February 18:00 until 19:00
Fulton 103
Speaker: Alan Jackson (Renewable World)
Part of the series: Global Design Seminars
Alan is an expert in the use, risks and benefits of ICTs in the development sector. His key interests are Agile methodologies, Participatory approaches to international development and Consensus decision making. He will be talking about his work with Apitivate, an NGO dedicated to developing ICT services that facilitate communication for unconnected communities, empowering ordinary people across the developing world to improve their lives. Working between offices in Cambridge and Brighton, Aptivate works on both grant funded projects and direct partnerships with NGOs to help them to solve their IT challenges, particularly with low bandwidth, high data volume needs.
The Global Design Seminar series will present a number of speakers from organisations concerned with engineering and computing technology and design, international development, sustainability and the environment. Seminars are hosted by the School of Engineering and Informatics and for Spring 2014 will be held on Tuesdays, 6pm - 7pm.
All welcome!
