A clearing call centre (based in the Pevensey building) is taking enquiries from prospective students on 01273 678416.

A series of adverts appeared in the national press to coincide with the release of A level results.
Now that A level results have been announced, the University of Sussex is using the clearing process to admit additional students, and will have opportunities for well-qualified applicants in almost all subject areas.
This year the University is also making available for the first time up to 200 bed spaces in University-managed accommodation for students who come to Sussex through clearing.
Like other universities, in 2013 Sussex is allowed by the government to recruit unlimited numbers of UK and EU applicants with A level grades of ABB and above.
Rob Evans, Head of Admissions, explains what this means for Sussex: “Because we can admit unlimited numbers of ABB students, we expect to see an increase in our total intake. We have capacity for up to 2,900 students this year and we hope to take at least 200 students through clearing.
“In some areas, we have space only for students who have ABB grades or higher; but in other areas we are able to admit students with grades below ABB.”
The government’s latest funding arrangements for higher education provide Sussex with the opportunity to admit additional students through clearing who have achieved very good grades within the context of their school, but who may still fall slightly below ABB.
Rob explains: “For example, if an applicant has achieved BBB grades at a school where the average A level performance is only BCC, we would recognise the potential demonstrated by this student, even if they are seeking entry to a course at Sussex that normally requires AAB.”
The University’s First Generation Scholarships – which are aimed at families who do not have experience of university - will be open to all eligible students admitted to Sussex this autumn, including those who come via clearing.
Full details of all undergraduate course vacancies at Sussex are available online and a clearing call centre (based in the Pevensey building) is taking enquiries from prospective students on 01273 678416.
The clearing process at Sussex is being supported by the provision of clear information on Facebook and Twitter.
In addition, a series of adverts have appeared in the national press today (Thursday 15 August) to coincide with the release of A level results.
The press adverts form part of a wider advertising campaign, which also aims to raise awareness of Sussex at other critical points in the recruitment cycle and at the beginning of the new school year in September, and to promote attendance at open days.
